Shade reference
Stylecraft Special DK colour chart: all shade codes
Stylecraft Special DK comes in 125 shades, numbered from White 1001 to Honey Mix 2194, and every one is listed in the table below with its code and name. We counted them on Stylecraft’s own Special DK page on 1 October 2026 and checked the list against Wool Warehouse. Stylecraft’s site loads the shades in batches, so this page puts them all in one list.
Every current shade, by code
The table runs in shade-code order. The colour family is our own rough, plain-English grouping, made from the shade names and Stylecraft’s product photos. It isn’t Stylecraft’s classification and it’s approximate: a dozen shades sit between two families, and we’ve marked those as borderline in the notes. Look at a real swatch before you commit.
We haven’t handled every shade ourselves. The codes and names are Stylecraft’s, as listed on its website.

Which shades are new
Stylecraft added 20 shades in October 2024, coded 2170 to 2189, from Poppy to Tea Green. Gemma at Home lists all 20 with their codes in a post dated 28 October 2024, with notes on how each looks in person.
On 1 October 2026, Stylecraft’s page marked three shades as NEW: Indigo Mix 2192, Strawberry Mix 2193 and Honey Mix 2194. Check Stylecraft’s own photos for how each mix looks before you order.
How we checked the list
Stylecraft’s Special DK page loads more shades each time you press Show Me More. We loaded the full list and counted 125 shades, from 1001 to 2194. Wool Warehouse’s Special DK all-colours page gives a shade count of 125 and the same 125 codes.
Every name matched except one: Stylecraft calls 1807 Hint of Silver and Wool Warehouse calls it A Hint of Silver. Wool Warehouse listed Special DK at £2.35 for a 100g ball of 295m, checked 1 October 2026.
Shade code or dye lot?
The shade code is the four-digit number that names the colour, such as 1128 for Charcoal. The dye lot is a separate number for one batch. Wool Warehouse’s guide to dye lots describes them as batches of yarn dyed in the same vat at the same time, and says many labels print the dye lot number.
Two balls can share a shade code and still differ slightly if they come from different dye lots. For a large area in one colour, buy all the balls at once so they’re more likely to match. Order by code as well as name, because a name such as Grey is easy to mix up with Graphite, Charcoal or Warm Grey.
Picking a palette from the list
Use the family counts below to see where the range is deep. Green, blue, purple and pink each have 14 or more shades, so a gradient within one family is easy. White and cream has only two, so for a soft neutral you may want to look across beige and grey as well. The families are our approximate grouping, so treat the counts as a rough guide.
For a temperature blanket, our temperature blanket planner turns ten years of real daily highs for your UK town into colour bands and balls per colour. Once you have a shade list, the colour-rounding explorer shows how the number of colours changes how many whole balls you buy.

How many colours does Stylecraft Special DK come in?
125 shades on Stylecraft’s own Special DK page when we checked on 1 October 2026. Wool Warehouse’s all-colours page also gave a shade count of 125.

Twenty shades coded 2170 to 2189 were added in October 2024, from Poppy to Tea Green. On 1 October 2026 Stylecraft also marked Indigo Mix 2192, Strawberry Mix 2193 and Honey Mix 2194 as new.
