Compare the cost of a whole yarn order

Cost per metre is only a first check

Consider two hypothetical packs of a yarn suitable for your project: 100m for £2 or 250m for £4. The prices per 100m are £2 and £1.60. Yet for a 90m requirement, one £2 pack costs less than one £4 pack. Pack rounding matters. For a 500m requirement, the totals become £10 and £8 before delivery.

Delivery can change the result

An £8 yarn order with £4 delivery costs £12. A £10 yarn order with free delivery costs £10. These are illustrative amounts, not current shop offers. In the planner, enter the delivery charge shown for your address and basket. A blank delivery box means unknown, while 0 means you have checked that delivery is free.

Check discounts and pack sizes at the shop

A promotion may depend on the shade, pack size, basket total or number of balls. In our tools, enter the price for one whole pack after applicable discounts, plus the number of balls in that pack. For individually sold balls, use a pack size of 1. Each pack must contain only the colour on that row. The planner does not apply voucher codes or quantity discounts and is not a live price comparison service.

Price is not a substitute check

Two yarns with different thicknesses or fibres are not equivalent just because one has a better price per metre. First confirm the yarn is suitable for your pattern. Then compare the full purchase cost. Keep separate delivery lines when ordering from different shops.
